Overview

PURPOSE & IMPACT: At Nomad Foods, our purpose is to make mealtimes better with the goodness of frozen food. We’re an industry leader in health and nutrition, and sensory science is at the heart of how we ensure our products taste great and meet consumer expectations. As Assistant Nutrition & Sensory Manager you’ll both support the implementation and delivery of our Health and Nutrition strategy and approach, business partnering to apply nutrition expertise across Nomad Foods, as well as supporting the delivery of our Sensory Science programme to ensure our products deliver superior sensory experiences that consumers love. This role will help to shape the future of frozen food.

 

This role requires a self-driven and collaborative individual, with keen attention to detail and a passion for tasty and healthy food. Someone who is organised and can navigate and thrive in a fast-paced, complex pan-European company and environment. This person needs to be able to communicate with impact, developing strong and effective working relationships at pace.

Responsibilities

Nutrition

 

Contributing to the delivery of nutrition strategy, work programme & external commitments

As part of Group Nutrition team, ensures implementation of strategy, policies, approach and work programme to deliver external commitments.

 

Cluster and Segment teams health & nutrition expert consultant

Builds & maintains strong relationships with colleagues in RDQ & other functions (marketing, insights, category & sales teams, etc.) in assigned Cluster(s) and Segment(s), acting as an expert health and nutrition consultant.

 

Contributing to ongoing horizon scanning

Anticipates, monitors and escalates to team members all relevant nutrition-related science, consumer trends, needs and concerns, and regulatory changes.

 

Contributing to Nutrition Academy and broader nutrition and health training initiatives.

 

Sensory

 

Contributing to the delivery of Superiority and Competitor Sensory Monitoring programmes

Translate results into actionable insights for product development and marketing, ensuring alignment with nutrition and ingredient selection policies.

 

Cluster and Segment teams Sensory expert consultant

Builds & maintains strong relationships with colleagues in RDQ & other functions (marketing, insights, etc.) in assigned Cluster(s) and Segment(s). Championing internal & external sensory testing as a key input into product strategy, renovation activities and F4G initiatives, maintaining scientific rigour and robustness, and supporting in sensory claims development.

 

Contributing to Sensory Academy and broader sensory training initiatives.

Train internal teams on sensory best practices and methodologies.

 

Contributing to bringing ‘outside in’ expertise

Engage and collaborate with external partners to bring best-in-class sensory thinking into the business. Anticipates, monitors and escalates to team members all relevant sensory-related science, consumer trends, needs and concerns, and regulatory changes.

 

Panel and Consumer Connect Support

Help coordinate internal sensory panels and consumer connects, including scheduling, panellist communication, moderation and basic training support.

Qualifications

  • Accredited BSc Nutrition /Nutrition & Food Science /Nutrition and Consumer Science degree
  • Association for Nutrition registration
  • 3 years’ experience in the food industry (FMCG preferred), with cross-functional collaboration
  • Nutrition subject matter expertise, with ongoing commitment to continued professional development
  • External nutrition policy, national guidance and claims regulations awareness
  • Knowledge of EU food labelling and health claim regulations
  • Strong understanding of sensory testing methodologies
  • Experience with sensory data statistical analysis and consumer insights integration
  • Fluent in English; additional European language skills (e.g., German, Italian, or French) are advantageous but not essential
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Fully IT literate (including MS Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Confident working with data, and proficient in data analysis and IT tools relevant to nutrition and sensory science (including statistical analysis software)
