Overview

Group commercial finance sits at the heart of the commercial organisation, providing business support, challenge and governance to Group commercial. Whilst also providing commercial finance teams in markets with tools and skills to enhance the commercial planning and analysis functions. Within Nomad our commercial business model is structured around 4 quadrants; Product, Brand, Shopper & Retailer. Group Commercial Finance’s role is to partner each of these quadrants.


The purpose of this role is to be the primary business partner to the Group Commercial Director. This involves working closely with the Revenue Growth Management (RGM) Team, International Sales Team and the Category Team. Alongside this primary function, this role has line management of a Commercial Finance analyst, who is the business partner to Nomad’s central Media Team.

Responsibilities

The Senior Commercial Finance Manager is responsible for partnering the Group Commercial Director, leading the financial agenda and providing the financial insight required to ensure the Commercial and strategic objectives of the teams are met.

Commercial Reporting: Volume, Price, Mix, Cost Model (VMPC)

  • Review the output of the VPMC and provide insight and action to the exec on the monthly basis
  • Provide support more broadly through VPMC when used in our areas such as Annual Plan or Strat Plan

RGM

  • Work closely with the two arms of RGM (Insights & CoE) across the various projects and initiatives the teams are deploying into Nomad
  • This role will be closely involved in understanding the impacts from a financial perspective of the programme of RGM
  • There will be a range of ad-hoc projects which RGM will lead across Nomad, that will require commercial finance assistance, this role will be a key support function

Systems

  • Provide key commercial finance advice and support in the various systems being implemented under the ownership of the Group Commercial Director

Strategic Plan

  • Where needed work with the Group Finance & Group Commercial Teams in inputting into the SP process, providing insight and perspective from perspective of RGM, Category & International Sales

Annual Plan

  • Where needed provide support in understanding the Group Commercial levers within the Annual Plan / Quarterly forecast process

Channels:

  • Work with the Group Commercial Director, Channel leads & marketing units to understand Channel opportunities incl Discounters, E-Commerce, Export, Food Service, Unbranded and other channels
  • Review size of opportunity from both a financial and strategic point of view

International Sales

  • Supporting the Intl Account lead with information and understanding of the performance of the intl accounts
  • Support the negotiation of the contracts and the financial implications on the business communicating with both the Intl Accounts Lead and the MU Sales Directors
  • Understand and be able to articulate the changing landscape of intl accounts as alliances form, shift and disband along with the financial implications of these perimeter changes

Media

  • Be accountable for supporting the Media Directors on strategic decisions around media investment and prioritisation. The direct report of this role is responsible for the financial partnering of the Media Team

Qualifications

  • University graduate, qualified accountant
  • 4+ years PQE
  • A track record of delivery in commercial finance roles
  • You will use management information to provide insight behind business performance, to guide future plans, lead for Planning and Forecasting excellence
  • Highly numerate + analytical, with good attention to detail
  • Able to apply intellect + judgement to influence cross-functional colleagues to act on financial recommendations in commercial decisions
  • Able to work collaboratively with peers and deliver through team members
  • Organised, strong prioritisation skills and delivery to tight timescales
  • Drive for results and high personal resilience
  • Self-motivated individual with an analytical mind-set to challenge the business
