We have an exciting opportunity for you to grow your career and make a difference at Birds Eye!  Joining us as the Category Controller you’ll be a thought leader for the Frozen Category - inspiring with best-in-class insights and creative ideas, you’ll proactively create partnerships to encourage your customers to lead the market in their categories. 

Responsibilities

This is a key role within our Category team where you’ll ensure the Category Vision is used as a springboard for this inspiration, working pro-actively with retailers to jointly develop a clear plan with ownable initiatives for Birds Eye/Nomad Foods.  You’ll work in collaboration with our Sales Controllers to support the delivery of the customer or channel P&L’s and long-term strategic plans.  You are the voice of the shopper, consumer, and customer internally, delivering actionable insights to the cross functional teams. 

  • Responsible for driving category leadership throughout the business and externally.
  • Ownership and deep understanding of business analytics of KPIs, shopper and category trends to identify business opportunities.
  • Lead category management across Nomad categories; leveraging in depth understanding of shopper and categories to recommend consumer led, tangible ideas to grow the category
  • Ensuring our breadth and effectiveness of our strategic category growth plans are aligned with the customer strategy.
  • Maximise and optimise distribution, space and placement of all must win categories/NPD across all channels, ensuring Consumer, Shopper & Customer relevancy.
  • Drive sales revenue and profit growth through application of category management to maximise commercial return for Nomad Foods and the retailers.

Qualifications

We’re looking for a Category Controller / Senior Category Manager with the experience of working in a blue chip FMCG organisation.  You’re an expert of category management and have extensive experience of managing senior customer relationships (category & commercial).  Strong commercial acumen and understanding of financial metrics are a must for this role, as well as the experience of leveraging key data agencies. We look for people who are focused on getting results, embrace learning and bring positive energy, combining initiative with a sense of teamwork and collaboration.  

  • A track record of demonstrating leveraging application of category management thinking for growth
  • Ability to link Category Management strategies and plans to commercial outcomes for Nomad Foods and the Retailers through a Revenue Growth Management mindset.
  • Strong understanding and ability to leverage a range of shopper, consumer, provider & market insights & techniques, whilst landing key initiatives with our retailer partners
  • You’re a confident communicator, both written & presented to internal and external audiences
  • You’ve good influential skills both with internal and external stakeholders
  • You’ve excellent cross functional skills to actively shape direction for the team and the business
  • You’re able to make difficult and potentially unpopular decisions to deliver for the business and demonstrates resilience and able to develop solutions in the face of challenges.

 

PLEASE NOTE - This role will require travel across sites as well as to customers, therefore agility and flexibility will be critical.
