Overview

In the Nomad Foods strat plan innovation has been called out as the single biggest growth lever, representing 50% of the growth. As a partner to the Portfolio Director this role leads a big part of the Nomad portfolio and is the cross functional lead connecting to strategy and critical issues. This role is accountable for defining the portfolio architecture, delivering the 5yr inno/renno pipeline and developing Global how to win blueprints for each MWB within the segment and playbooks for successful implementation in markets.

Responsibilities

Part of the Nomad Foods’ Group Portfolio Team which are responsible for the Win with our Food Quadrant of the Flywheel. Accountabilities are focussed on Segment & Portfolio strategy, Innovation & Renovation Pipeline and being the overall lead for the flywheel process for your segment. The Portfolio team, work as part of a central cross functional team in close collaboration with marketing colleagues organised by cluster covering 22 European locations across the Birds Eye, Iglo, Findus, Ledo & Frikom brands as well as expandable brands: Green Cuisine, Goodfellas, Belviva.

 

Portfolio Management & Commercial Leadership

  • Leads cross functional Leadership Team to build long term vision aligning to strat plan and operationalising it –> covers priority initiatives: Brand, Portfolio, PPA, Sustainability, Supply/ Sourcing Strategy, Innovation Pipeline sufficiency.
  • Bring strategy to life and make it executable, to ensure a high level of conviction across the Exec, Clusters and other business key stakeholders.
  • Flywheel Lead – deliver clear how to win global blueprints for all Must Win Battles (MWBs) within segment (plus growth platform within segment).
  • Inputs to pricing strategy working with RGM – Connecting/ Coordinating PPA activities across clusters to Win with Shoppers
  • Commercial acumen – able to link build strong business case with strong understanding of P&L and business levers – will be required to present each month in CMOR to represent the Segment pipeline and each year at the GAC to Inspire the organisation in the Strategy and innovation for the cluster to implement.

 

Innovation & Renovation

  • Strong capability to deliver end to end innovation process, managing the innovation stage gate process (CMOR) effectively with strong engagement across functions.
  • Initiate & lead external trend scanning, in partnership with insights developing strong consumer understanding across the clusters.
  • Developing a 3-5-year balanced pipeline (horizon 1&2) in line with the MWB blueprints in segment – balancing the right level of near in innovation and renovation as well as more breakthrough ideas to step change the role of innovation in the business.
  • Build a licensing & partnership strategy within portfolio
  • Champion Product superiority with the 5 Star programme – building relevant renovation programmes and unlocking claims to leverage superiority.
  • Develop appropriate claims strategy including IP to drive competitive advantage for our brands within portfolio
  • Build strategy and vision for segment to then prepare business briefs for CoE brand team to create effective comms plans for the inno/ reno portfolio plan
  • Develop pack design and architecture guidelines for segment within Masterbrand guidelines.
  • Delivering market-ready templates (concept, product, packaging, pack design, and market support recommendations) to support brilliant execution.
  • Identifying, developing, and sharing best practices across clusters for superior implementation
  • Integrated fuel for Growth initiatives within portfolio pipeline plans (connecting to 5 Star Superiority understanding)
  • Partnering with Global sales to connect pipeline with category vision and build strong sell in story for innovation and renovation.

 

Segment Team Leadership

  • Develop a great team through robust succession planning, development and rewarding talent and regular development discussions with team.
  • Creates a collaborative culture where individuals and teams ideate and learn from each other and celebrate success together.
  • Budget Management
  • Management of assigned segment marketing budget in line with plan.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in Marketing in FMCG companies, ideally food and in both local/ central roles.
  • Proven track record in successfully bringing innovation and renovation to market
  • Commercially astute with full flywheel experience and understanding.
  • Mandatory language requirements: English (multi lingual desirable)
