Overview

The PMO & Project Manager is combination role responsible for both the Administration, Reporting and Coordination of Nomad Foods Commercial Project Portfolio along with delivering Project Management  to chosen Commercial Projects.

 

Their focus is on ensuring that Nomad Foods is set up to comply with the monthly CMOR process. The scale of Nomad Foods Innovation Process which covers circa 600 users, 350 projects pa generating in the region of £60-£100m Net Sales per annum means it is critical we have an effective process & tool in place.

 

The role does this through being the custodian & subject matter expert on Planview (Nomad Foods PPM tool) and through driving education & Improvement in Nomad Foods Innovation Process across the organisation.

 

A Project Management skill set is also in place to utilise with spare capacity on chosen Commercial Projects.

Responsibilities

Governance, Process, Reporting & Tracking

  • Key member of a collaborative team that delivers portfolio management for the key decision-making forum (CMOR).
  • Strong Understanding of governance processes and ensures all projects being managed adhere to these processes.
  • Track programme progress and exceptions against key milestones, key risks, issues & dependencies, ensuring effective communication of key project information (i.e., risks, actions, status, issues) and aggregated summaries across portfolios to highlight and report top issues and risks for management attention.
  • Drive improvements in the process e.g. establish Base Line & Change Control, Audit Process, Realise BI Analytics.
  • Manage the ongoing Programme status reporting across functions, ensuring a consistently high standard of reporting across the department.

Project Process, Systems and Tools

  • PPM Tool Super User – Expertise built on Planview – Ensuring Supporting analyst role capability is built.
  • Key to develop further the Nomad project methodology and governance processes as established in the business, observing mandates and control steps as necessary guarantees of project quality.
  • Write and deliver training across the business to improve understanding and use (capability) of the Methodology and related toolset.
  • Lead the Project Management of relevant PMO projects as required from time to time (e.g. Planview improvement/upgrade, Setting up of LMORs in acquired markets, SharePoint Integration, training.
  • May be required to run project Post-implementation reviews to facilitate lessons learned and benefits analysis at the end of a project.

Project Planning

  • Understands and uses a variety of planning and project management tools.
  • Through questioning / challenging with project team is able to create an effective project plan, identify and manage dependencies
  • Drives & holds the project team to deliver against the plan.

 Scoping & project briefing

  • Is able to lead a team to define a clear project brief & scope
  • Understands impact of scope changes on project and other activities in business knows how & when scope change needs to be escalated/ challenged and is able to work with partners to resolve

Issue & Risk Management

  • Effectively communicates and escalates risks & issues to relevant stakeholders and is able to lead & drive to solutions        
  • Is able to lead the project team to identify risks & issues and develop risk management strategies and alternative solutions

Team Management

  • Understands the importance of building a strong team
  • Can plan and hold structured & well conducted meetings
  • Tracks team delivery and is able to hold team to account

Stakeholder Management

  • Identify stakeholder map for each project and assess influence and interest
  • Use a communication plan to engage stakeholders - listen and communicate details of the project and it's progress
  • Manage escalations of stakeholders

Change Management

  • Understand the principles of change management and the follow best practice approach to executing change well within the Nomad Methodology.
  • Understand the barriers to change and manage barriers to and resistance to change effectively by communicating the plan (and the benefits) to the team and to the broader stakeholder community.

Information Management

Maintains accurate records of Governance and project decisions.  Acts as ‘librarian’ for portfolio information and maintains an accurate set of definitive project documentation throughout project lifecycle and for the ongoing portfolio

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of Project Planning, Project Portfolio Management and Project Office management.
  • Project Management or PMO qualification (or studying)
  • Experience of training delivery
  • Good Communication skills
  • Expert competency with Planview, Strong MS Office tools, MS Project and SharePoint capabilities..
  • Experience and use of Project Management methodology
  • Proven ability to organise (documents, people, processes, reports, logs etc.)
  • Transparent, open and honest
  • Great organisational skills (self & others) and using them for building relationships across the business and with project teams
  • Works with a sense of urgency and bias for action
  • Ability to hold teams and individuals to account

 Desirable

  • Appreciation of project finances (disciplines of writing a project business case, of tracking actual spend against budgets)
  • Expertise in project planning and PMO led programme reporting
  • Consumer Packaged Goods Industry
