Group Commercial Finance sits at the heart of the commercial organisation, providing business support, challenge and governance to Group commercial.  Whilst also providing Commercial Finance Teams in markets with tools and skills to enhance the commercial planning and analysis functions.


The Plant Protein (Green Cuisine) business unit sits within the Group Commercial central Team driving the overall strategy, execution and vision for the BU. This unit is seen as a key growth driver in Nomad’s strategic plan over the next three years.


The purpose of this role is to provide financial, commercial and strategic leadership to the Plant Protein Business Acceleration BU, acting as a true business partner to the Commercial Team including the BU Managing Director. This includes providing financial expertise in all aspects of the P&L and helping to deliver the overall Net sales, Gross Profit and EBITDA target, as well as the strategic ambition of the Plant Protein category, whilst also providing strategic leadership on direction of BU in the future.




Strategic Planning

  • Lead creation of 3year strategic plan for the Plant Protein business unit which covers growth of base business and innovation/renovation plans
  • Ensure Innovation pipeline is evaluated, challenged and risk assessed before included in Strat Plan
  • Ensure adequate and optimised A&P support is factored into the plan and review the impact on EBITDA
  • Work with Supply Chain to help consolidate volume requirements and understand capacity constraints. Work with Supply Chain on any Capex requirements

Commercial Strategy Lead

  • Lead assessment and recommendations of commercial strategy across the BU including market readiness, commercial viability and investment strategies
  • Work with RGM and Sales functions (market and group) to identify and evaluate pricing, terms and mix solutions for BU
  • Assess, challenge and make recommendations on potential vertical and horizontal integration opportunities
  • Work with insights to quantify challenge on future size of prise opportunities, both top line revenue driving and bottom-line efficiency driving initiatives
  • Work with R&D to prioritise resource allocation across the BU

Business Partnering

  • Help the Plant Protein Business Director to understand business priorities from both a financial and strategic standpoint
  • Partner the Marketing Team on a day to day basis, helping them to understand the internal P&L category performance and innovation P&L dynamics
  • Work with the wider cross functional Plant Protein Team to ensure they have and understand the financial information they require
  • Assist the Team with ad hoc requests to provide insight for key strategy decisions
  • Provide the Exec with a monthly performance update
  • Use in internal and external performance to understand future business opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with marketing units to understand P&L dynamics for current and future projects


  • Business Partner with International Account Director & marketing units to understand Foodservice, QSR and other opportunities
  • Review size of opportunity from both a financial and strategic point of view
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure visibility of volume requirements

  • Facilitation of local market workshops to coach solutions to business challenges and opportunities aligned to the commercial needs
  • Whilst there will not be a requirement for lots of detailed analysis, the Candidate must be able to interpret and generate insights from a variety of structured situation analyses
  • Understands the impact and implications of various price, promotional mechanisms and how these impact a portfolio strategy
  • Anchors analysis back to the key business objectives
  • Balance external insights and internal requirements when defining the strategy
  • Understands and uses relevant evaluation/return on investments metrics
  • Can track and review performance of strategy and determine when and where course correction is required
  • Experience: 5+ Years in commercial finance role with P&L responsibility
  • Ideally, but not essential, experience working in at least two markets outside of home country
  • Sector: Blue Chip FMCG (Sales, Marketing, Finance), Strategy Consulting or Retail background

  • Can create a compelling internal and external story to show the benefit of a strategy; engaging both associates and Customers
  • Ability to identify PPP strategic issues and opportunities through proactively identifying common themes and trends from a variety of information sources


  • Portfolio Breadth and Scale - The ability to identify portfolio opportunities that optimise the strategic trade-off between the scale advantages of a lean portfolio and the penetration advantages of incremental SKUs and brands. Then work constructively with other functions and leverage an understanding of Consumer and shopper barriers to penetration in order to create a growth pipeline that unlocks incremental value
  • Analytical Skills - Turning data into insights - The ability to use Consumer, shopper, market, competitor, retailer and internal data and translate it into meaningful insights, to understand and prioritise barriers and opportunities in order to improve performance
  • Fuel & Roll Out Success - The ability to roll out propositions across multiple markets in a timely and efficient way, then nurture long-term success based on Growth Model criteria
  • Financial Management - The ability to apply financial and analytical concepts and use thorough corporate / industry knowledge to make sound business plans, decisions and practices
  • Business Process Improvement - Internal and external Business Process Improvement involves identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness while delivering superior results
