Research & Development


The Product Development Technologist is a key member of the organization.  Based at a large R&D site they provide critical support to the delivery of the regional NPD / EPD program. The ability to manage complex tasks involving cross functional interaction is essential, in particular with the product & pack development teams as well as supply chain and quality teams on site.


  • Build & maintain strong relationships with colleagues in RDQ and other functions (MU’s, SU’s, TQS, Procurement & the Category Marketing)
  • Technical project management of straightforward NPD & EPD projects (e.g. a new variant) in accordance with the agreed procedures to ensure successful and timely delivery of the projects
  • Support other team members with projects incl data collection, analysis of RMs, sample preparation and sending/receiving parcels
  • Encourage cross-fertilization of knowledge with colleagues in RDQ
  • Maintain a constant awareness of competitor activity via benchmarking, regularly reviews of competitor products and propose routes for maintaining competitive advantage
  • Involvement in monitoring food trends, identifying those to focus on and cascade information to the wider RDQ community
  • Maintain a professional and hygienic food handling environment, including any role in H&S or GMP/GHP as requested
  • Maintain team development infrastructure (fabric, equipment, ingredient stocks, reference samples etc.)

  • Relevant Food Science / Technical / Culinary/ Engineering qualification or proven experience of food development
