Overview

Delivering the analytics and modelling capability for project Turning, NOMADs first projects for build internal data base, reporting and analytics capability. The primarily aim of Turing is to get to more, better and faster data driven decisions for growth.

 

This role focused on working with the insight team and commercial leads across the business, to understand their key questions & challenges for growth and then NOMAD data scientists and engineers to ‘translate’ the analytics and models into insights which match these challenges.

  • Focusing on external data sources from Nielsen / IRI (retail sales measurement) to media / digital / google data (any relevant external data)
  • Translate the analytics and models into deliverables that drive business decisions and growth
  • Capability building in insights and MU insight community of how to interpret and apply data science. Educate on the art of the possible

Responsibilities

Objectives

  • Drive development completion of the analytics users stories (explanation of how analytics and models provide insights) including detailed scoping of requirements
  • Identify new data source requirements. In collaboration with Nomad’s Data Engineering function, establish sustainable data feeds for these new sources (eg space and place, macro-economic indicators)
  • Partner with key stakeholders both within the Insights and Commercial Leadership team to understand, then deliver against, their analytical requirements
  • Translate business requirements to the Nomad Data Science team to ensure the appropriate analytics is created
  • Translate analytical output into Insights which drive change within the business.
  • Enhance the analytical capability of the Insights team

The scope for the role

  • Build a world class analytics approach for forecasting /prediction and building ML / AI into the NOMAD business.
    • Media and RGM focus whilst connecting with S&OP / financial / innovation with the ambitions of making the NOMAD growth algorithm and real working model
  • Development and delivery analytics capability for NOMAD, making analytics meaningful & actionable vs. technical development of the tools (in IT)
  • Building organisation capability and training

Qualifications

Essential

  • 7+ years’ experience in FMCG.
  • Strong track record of advanced analytics model creation and delivery (eg MMM, promotional optimisation, demand forecasting etc)
  • Management of IT/data teams.
  • Track record of implementing large scale business change
  • Building and working with data lakes e.g. GCP or similar
  • Working with SAP Analytics Cloud or other analytics tools Power BI, Tableau,
  • Influencing decisions at c suite level with Insight
  • Strong presentation & communication skills
  • Able to tell a story, with actionable & insightful recommendations, using multiple data source
  • Curious and inquisitive
  • Strong track record of delivering insight that generates action
  • Highly numerate
  • Statistical modelling & hands on experience & use of analytics tools Python, R etc
  • Front end tools such as PowerBI/Tableau/SAC
  • Change management
  • Hunger to improve the status quo
  • Constructively challenges in order to get to the ‘why’
  • Take full responsibility to deliver projects on time and follow up on actions
  • Strong commercial awareness

  • FMCG background Client side experience desirable but not essential.
