    The R&D Data Management Team operates as ‘centre of expertise’ provider to the business in providing Specification, Data and Information management systems for use by the business to control the quality and safety of ingredients, packaging, products and processes. To provide product information for use by the business, customers, consumers and regulatory, NGO and compliance organisations. It also acts as a central ‘one-stop shop’ for technical queries from all interfaces across the business and from suppliers

     

    The Data Manager is a significant role in the organisation which requires experience of products, ingredients and packaging and expert knowledge of Nomad specification & data handling systems and processes. The Data Manager is able to collaborate in a professional manner with Product and Packaging Developers, Procurement, QA and other business functions and external suppliers and organisations. The role requires ability to ‘self-start’ and work independently with minimum supervision. The role requires the ability to review ingredient and packaging specifications, to constructively challenge supplier comments to specifications, when there is a difference between what they are saying and Nomad Foods Europe requirements, to reach agreement.

    Responsibilities

    • Have a good knowledge of ingredients, supply chains & manufacturing processes through regular contact with suppliers, Product and Packaging Developers, Procurement, QA and SUs
    • To ensure that all specifications are written to meet Nomad Foods Europe standards and have been signed by suppliers, where required, to protect the business from potential liability
    • Coordinate & conduct specification maintenance as required for BRC compliance or due to changes in Nomad requirements
    • To ensure that all data input into company systems is to the best of your knowledge correct and in accordance with company policy
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues in R&D and other functions (MUs, SUs, QA, Procurement, MWB, and Marketing)
    • Encourage cross-fertilization of knowledge with colleagues in R&D
    • Be seen as an ambassador for excellence in execution
    • Support R&D input to project gate documents
    • Proactive and timely communication of opportunities, progress, issues, risks, etc to R&D management and key stakeholders
    • Plan, build and monitor new/existing product specification hierarchy and ensure completion; and provision of BoMs to SAP to enable production orders and purchasing
    • Raising of Codes in SAP completing basic master data as required by the business
    • Be the first point of contact within the Data Management team for 1 or more Nomad Sourcing Units &/or MUs
    • Check and approve higher-level specifications 
    • Analyze data discrepancies to diagnose system faults and restore the interface between Interspec and SAP
    • Maintain Users, Access Groups, Work Flow Groups and Work Flows with Interspec.  Audit as required
    • Support the data management simplification and improvement programme by identifying opportunities, developing solutions & implementing changes
    • Provide rapid & professional  incident support by expert interrogation & extraction of specifications data
    • Provide expert support & training re Nomad specifications and data management systems & processes to colleagues in R&D & users in other functions, directly & via  Superusers
    • Coordinate & conduct maintenance of specifications database by collating information & informing R&D colleagues of which specs can be removed/made historic & when
    • Mentor Assistant Data Managers, Data Administrators, R&D Technologists and/or placement student

    Qualifications

    Applicants will be degree educated or equivalent (preferably in a science-related or food /nutrition related degree) and will have at least 2+ years’ experience within the food/drink industry in a Technical/ Product Development role, including experience of managing data and writing specifications.

     

    Knowledge and skills in the following is also required:

    • Food raw material and process understanding
    • Product design and development Quality Assurance
    • Understanding of consumer and customer requirements
    • Project management
    • Local and European Food Product and labelling regulations understanding
    • Specification origination
    • Recipe systems
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with changing priorities and needs
    • Excellent team player with the ability to build and leverage internal and external alliances and work effectively in a lean environment

    European language skills would also be highly desirable.
